COAT
Poodles have dense fur which mats easily. Poodles should be brushed daily and bathed twice monthly with a mild canine
shampoo. I recommend that you take your Poodle to a professional groomer every 6-8 weeks.
EYES
You also need to make sure to take care to maintain clean eyes to prevent infection. Many Poodles have eyes which tear
and stain the area below the eye which can gather bacteria and eventually cause infections if not properly cleaned and maintained.
TEETH
Poodles are prone to dental problems due to thier being tight liped food particles and bacteria get trapped on
the teeth, if a Poodles teeth are not maintained and cared for properly this can lead to serious health issues. Feed your
Poodle good quality hard food, brush thier teeth regularly, and I recommend raw hide chews or other treats designed to clean
the teeth. It is also recommended that you take your Poodle to your veterinarian yearly for a dental cleaning (your Poodle
will thank you).
EARS
Poodles as with any other floppy eared breed are prone to ear infections if thier ears are not cared for properly. You
should keep the hair pulled from inside your Poodles ears and you should clean them regularly (you can buy ear cleaning solutions
at just about any pet supply store), doing this will help to prevent yeast and bacteria from thriving in your Poodles ears
and causing infections.
It may seem like a lot to care for a Poodle but it is well worth it to have a happy, healthy, loving family member. Believe
me your Poodle will pay you back eminsly for caring for him properly!
